Knott’s Berry Farm
8039 Beach Blvd.
Buena Park, CA  90620
Phone: (714) 220-5200
Website: http://www.knotts.com

Let Knott’s carry you back in time 100 years to a place where cowboys and gunfights were ordinary and the gold rush was thriving and alive.                 Ghost Town is “authentic in almost every detail” and considered the “heart and soul” of Knott’s. You’ll find yourself immersed in cowboy culture from the gunfights, stagecoaches and its steam train to panning for gold and even a grave yard!

Knott’s is famed for its yearly celebration of Halloween. Each October Knott’s puts on one of the largest Halloween celebrations known to Southern California. I’d venture to say it is the largest, in fact! Young and old, alike, can join Knott’s for one night (or more!) of scary, taunting, good times! Not only does the park transform itself into a Halloween theme… they even change the name: Knott’s Scary Farm! And scary it is, indeed. Scare Master’s are employed during the month of October specifically to “severely terrify [their] guests”. Buy tickets early! They tend to sell out quickly.

Magic Mountain
Los Angeles, CA
Phone: (818) 367-5965
Website: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/magicmountain/ParkInfo/index.asp

Magic Mountain is a bit of a drive from South Orange County if you go at the wrong time…but nonetheless it is worth it. It lends way for the more extreme coaster riders to experience thrills of a different caliber. From Collosus, a white, wooden masterpiece of terror, to Scream, feet dangling in the air, to X, the thrill of ALL thrills; come one, come all but only if you can hold your stomach. Be prepared to sit in lines for a few hours at a time as Magic Mountain is NOT a secret. Anyone in SoCal will tell you it is one of the best theme parks to visit if you’re a thrill seeker.

While Knott’s has an Old Western theme and Disneyland, well, A Disney theme, Magic Mountain’s theme tends to be its incredible rides. Get there early and ride X last… it will change your idea of what a coaster ride should be like. If you ride it first, it will ruin the rest of the day!
